Firstly congrats Cynthia on a great site and a job well done.

I was very young when my old man (David Taylor) was posted to Butterworth (77-79) as a Screw (Miltary Police) and my memories are very few. I'll have to confide with my sis Kim and bro Stuart.

My first recollection is of a very humid night and mozzies with ceiling fans going flat out - god knows why they even bothered with the fans.

I fondly remember the bus/ferry trips to and from school - but that's about all from the school days.

The dolphins swimming clubs rings a bell, especially since I've still got all the badges, certificates and a plaque - I believe I gave up on backstroke because I smashed my head into the wall - lol.

For some reason I recall having a butterfly collection especially as I apparently burnt the field down the road to the ground where we used to catch them because I couldn't catch the one I wanted - lol , probably fried the sucker. Funny how you always remember the mischief.

I believe our Amah was called Rosalie and she was great, teaching us the local customs, but gee I think us brats gave her hell.

My last memory was the old man putting a sign on the front gate of our house informing the locals we were leaving - read something like piss off you thieving bastards nothings left in the house - I'll have to ask the old man what it read -lol.

Lastly my mother (Glenis Taylor) used to play softball and hockey there so if anyone wants to get in touch with my parents drop me an email.

As for myself I did the usual brat thing with a tangent by heading to the Army first before transferring across to the Raaf.

Cheers
