I think as a teenager living in Penang and going to RSP it was one of the most memorable times of my life. We lived in Road 3 Tanjong Tokong and always had something to do, whether it was playing sports at the Hostie or just hanging around with friends, it was always a lot of fun. Families came and went and most names are hard to remember now.

School was great! If anyone from year 10 (1983) reads this, remember our camp to Pangkhor Island. I recently spent three and a half years back in Penang as a RAAF wife and mother. It was a totally different experience. I took several drives past the old school and sat and remembered the good times that I had there as a kid. The RAAF kids attend International Schools now.

If anyone remembers Bok the shoeman, well he's still around and Mr Tan who used to bring all his treasures down from the temple markets. He still does his rounds. The old Hostie is fairly run down now, you can't see much, they have put up high tin fences all around. The Ferries are almost a thing of the past now with the Penang Bridge. But, I still liked to take a ride on them every now and again.

I had 13 years between visits to Penang and there had been many changes, but the one thing that still remains is the strong friendships that form between families during their stay.

If anyone reads this and thinks that they remember me or my family (brother's name was Stuart) from their time spent in Penang please feel free to contact me through my email address.
