Mum and Dad married in 1962. Dad was in the Raaf and one of their first stops was at Penang. Mum was pregnant with my older sister when they first went to Malaysia in 1964. She was nearly born on the ship on the way over. I wasn't too far behind born at a hospital in Penang which is apparently now a school. (Or was 20 years ago.) in 1965.

We came home in 1966. Not for too long though, we returned again in February 1977 and stayed for two years, coming home again to Wagga Wagga in February 1979. It was very traumatic for us to go to Malaysia when we had spent most of our life at Wagga Wagga.(Since I was 4 and I was now 11)

I had an extra younger sister and brother by that stage as well. Now I know it was one of the most fantastic experiences of my life. We had a great time while we were over there and I live for the day I can return and see where we lived,in Butterworth and where we went to school. Travelling to school every day on the ferry. They tell me there is now a bridge between the mainland and Penang?? I had planned on doing this recently but with all the turmoil going on have put it off for another couple of years. One day I will get there.
