Peter Matthey
1965-1967

We were in Malaysia as kids 1965-67. We originally lived in a big white house in Tanjong Bungah, just past the bus station going towards Batu Ferringhi. There was a road going up a side street past the Seaview Rest and we lived next door to a Buddhist Temple. We then moved after a while to 30 Jalan Azyze opposite the school.

I remember Mrs Tye, Mr Boyle, Mr Poole and another favorite of mine was my French teacher, Mrs Rose - never heard from any of these since. Kev Mezzina, Beverly Frampton, Chris Peterson, Phil Coy, Robin Glover are a few old school mates whom I've lost contact with.

I have been in the RAAF now for over 30 years and went back there myself on posting 73-76 as a singlie and then married and went back again 85-86 where my two eldest went to school, originally at Penang and then swapping over to Butterworth.

I am still with the RAAF here at Richmond working as a WOFF Medic I have been back to Butterworth numerous times and I think it has become too westernized, but I love the place and know it like the back of my hand. The food is magic and I still correspond with a few of the locals from up there.
