Julie Mann
1974 - 1977

My time in Penang was an opportunity to build wonderful memories from the smells of the markets to foods we enjoyed. The Penang Swimming Club and those wonderful crepes served poolside with ocean views.

Playing Mahjong with our Amah Jenny. Visiting her Kampong and enjoying her brothers wedding.

The daily grocery run and having our clothes made to measure. Mr Poon and his van full of goods to be purchased (he now has a store at Batu Ferringi).

Jenny the lady who drove a green van selling chickens (already prepared for cooking - dead) and eggs.
The Royal Penang Turf Club for the races and what is now the Botanical Gardens (Monkey Gardens) for an afternoon at the rollerskating rink.

Doing volunteer work with the Lions Club, my parents were Lions members and other members sent their servants along for the volunteer work.

The school and all the friendships developed. Playing handball with the rattan balls and just relaxing in the heat. I am soon to return and will enjoy the experience.
