I was one of the very rare few who was actually born in Penang on our first posting, so I remember very little of that trip.
40 years ago (1974) this year we went back to Penang and have so many great memories of life there. From the shaved ice after school, exploring with friends up in the rubber plantations, the local food and the social life which seemed non-stop.
Anyway we came back to Laverton in 1976 and Dad got out of the RAAF the next year and passed away 2 years after.
Whilst moving around and working all over the globe funny enough our home is less than 2km from the old Laverton RAAF base. Now married for over 20 years with 2 girls.
I have talked about it for years but seeing this site has made up my mind to take the family to Penang to show them where I spent some of my childhood and where I was born.
