I have returned to living in Malaysia in 2007 after having had 3 great years from 1959 - 1962 at Penang. My bahasa has stayed with me all those years or at least the simple words I remembered.

I recently took my family to find where I lived in Penang - Evergreen park and Jalan Hagi Rifi, Hillside. Also found both the old school in Georgetown and the Hillside school.

Mainly memories came back - swimming at the penang pool, picnics at butterfaringi, going up cable car to penang hill, mukan carts, and trishore bikes.

Penang is more crowded but still has a unique atmosphere with its multi cultural mix. Food is very special especially the Ngyona Cuisine. If you want to experience something different stay at the Chow Fat Sing (Blue Mansion)in Georgetown and relive living a century ago - original home of an early chinese trader.
