HI. I have just discovered this website
and it has certainly brought back some memories. I remember arriving on the Charter
at night to the heat and the smells. Some of the names I can recall from Raaf
School were Sandra Horton and Gaynor Blankley. I only spent 18 months at the school
because I had to come back to Australia and live with my grandparents to do Form
5. I remember travelling back to Malaysia twice during that year to see my family
and they were some flights. The RAAF had booked all us kids who were schooling
in Australia on the same flight, so we all hit the alcohol on the stopover at
Jakarta Airport in spite of being underage.
My family came back to Australia in January 1977 and by July that Year I had joined the RAAF as a Dental Assistant. I spent thirteen years in the RAAF and met my husband there. Two years ago my husband retired from the RAAF and we have settled in Cairns (his home town). After all these years I am still working as a Dental Assistant in the School Dental Service. I have a 13 year old daughter.
It has been great to hear everybodies stories and I hope to make it to the reunion in 2005.
