Peter Herman

I was in the Class on Mr Smeaton for around 2 years. My sister and I arrived in Penang at the beginning of 1963 and stayed for about 4 1/2 years. We lived at TanjongTokong not far from the hotel that used to hold all the Friday night Saturday Afternoon movies.

I used to be in the scouts,with the scout leader being Mr Martyn, who has since passed on. I can remember playing Aussie rules on the top oval every lunch time and enjoying the great sports times that we had. I am still interested in Rules, I follow the Magpies (don't hold that against me) and live in Sydney.

When I came back to Australia, I attended the Preston East Tech School and achieved my Intermediate. I then went on and did my Broadcast Operators Certificate of Proficiency for Radio & Television and also I am a full call ham operator getting my licence some 30 years ago.

I used to work for 3AK in Melbourne, but came up to Sydney in 1970 as a tech with 2Ch and some years later I left. I am now on work cover after being self employed for around 10 years.

I am on my second marriage, which has been going strong for 20 years. The first marriage died after 6 1/2 years.
