My name is Jim Hargreaves and I attended the RAAF school from 1966 to June 1968. I have wonderful memories of a time when school life, socialising particularly at the pool and growing up generally, was done in a unique and exciting environment. It's quite unlike anything young people today would be able to experience.

Music that brings in all back to me include Sgt Peppers, Living in a Child's Dream (Masters Apprentices), Come in, you'll get Pneumonia (Easybeats) and Stop Stop Stop!!(Hollies), among others. Those were the days!!

I am married to Denise and have two daughters, Kate aged 22 and Lisa 20 who are studying law and teaching respectively at the University of Canberra. Apart from 4 years living and working in the UK during the mid 70's, I still live in Canberra where I returned to after our posting to Penang.

My most recent visit to Penang was in October 2000 which was thoroughly enjoyable. I was amazed at how much it has changed yet it still remains very much as I remembered it. Our house at 37 Jesselton Cresent, while obviously being renovated, is pretty much as it was then. The hotel that we stayed at, on Batu Ferringi, is probably close to the spot we once camped on with the 23 Georgetown North Scout troop, although at that time it was just a marvellous untapped beach waiting to be developed.

I have plans to revisit next year.
