My parents Harold (Tubby) and Kath Duncombe arrived at Penang in 1958 from RAAF Base Amberley.

In 1958 I was one of the first students at No 8 Residency Rd, which was good, as the correspondence course wasn't going exactly as planned.

My memories of that time of my life are all good - excellent friends, scouts, school, flying fighting kites, and spinning tops.
I have been lucky enough to have just returned from spending 35 days in Malaysia on holidays.

During my holidays in Penang I was fortunate enough to find and get a tour of the old school. The school has recently been renovated, and it is in excellent conditiom.
As well as the school, the house I lived in Perak Rd still existed, although a little worst for wear. Also the building where I played so much badmintion (Old British Barracks)still exists. So overall Penang was a very nostalgic part of our holiday in Malaysia.
