We lived at Bagan Agam in Butterworth and I remember a few of us Raafy kids gathering for the 'white Raaf bus' to go on the ferry. It was quite an adventure to be able to travel to and from school on the ferry, even though we weren't able to get off the bus.

The thought of missing the bus after school was scary, though it never happened to me or one of my brothers. Thank God.

I particularly remember our sports days and our team names: Sabre, Meteor, and other plane names.

At school during LITTLE BREAK or big break, I remember blowing bubbles with this vile stuff we got from the noggys. A little straw and plasticine stuff that we formed over the top of the straw, then we blew like anything to get it to blow into a bubble that wouldn't pop. We'd seal them and carry them around put them on our heads or whatever. FUN!

I also remember after school playing at the monny drains, running up and down the sides. They were wide and deep and real good fun for us. Except in monsoon season. They'd fill up with catfish and I got stung once and cried all the way home. Last time I played at the monny drains.
